SANGYE THINLEY A (M02)

From: Melapuk, Bihi - 05, ChumNubri R.M., Gorkha, NepalAge: 17Siblings: 4

Born into an extended family, Sangye Thinley A faced a pivotal choice at six: attend school or become a monk. In 2016, he embraced the monastic path at Serang monastery. Guided by Lama Tsering Choedhen and Lama Tsewang Norbu for eight years, he delved into basic Tibetan education, progressing from the alphabet to fluent scripture recitation. His dream of attending Serang Primary School came true in 2022. Grateful for the guidance of teachers and revered Rinpoches, Tulku Karma Rinpoche and Nubtul Rinpoche, Sangye finds joy in being both a monk and a student. He expresses heartfelt thanks for this opportunity at the Gonpa.

SANGYE' s story

Hello, Tashi Delek! I'm Sangye Thinley from Melapuk village. In our family of eight, there's me, an elder sister, three younger brothers, my parents, and my grandma. While my sister studies in Thankot, Kathmandu, my elder brother is a monk there, and the younger ones are at home. To make ends meet, my parents work on agricultural lands in other villages, and my mother tirelessly cares for my younger siblings. At six, my father gave me a choice: school or monk life. I chose to become a monk, joining Serang Monastery in 2016. Guided by Lama Tsering Choedhen and Lama Tsewang Nobru, I've journeyed from the alphabet to fluent scripture recitation. In 2022, Serang Primary School welcomed me, opening doors to learning seven different subjects. I cherish playing with friends and am grateful for my caring teachers, root guru Tulku Karma Rinpoche, and our founder Nubtul Rinpoche. Being part of this monastery and school brings joy to my studies. In the future, I aspire to be a talented Lama. Education is my passion, and I'm thankful for Rinpoche's kindness. Though I miss my family, their love fuels my journey.
